This may not be a gossip but more likely it is the new talk in town and maybe one of the most disturbing of it all. It is none other President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s 9th SONA. I haven’t heard it at all since basically unlike other schools that suspended their classes, ours wasn’t that much into it. I’m not saying that our school, the staffs are not politically aware or something what I mean is our school did not suspend its classes unlike others. So, as for me who haven’t heard of the president’s SONA a lot of question arises. Like, what did the president talked about? Did she really say what her failures are or just flaunt all of her unsung improvements in our country? Will she still be pushing the so-called HR 1109 and run for candidacy? Or is this really her 9th and last SONA for her term? Those are the questions that I want to address to my fellow countrymen.


So, again what did our president really say? I heard in the news that maybe in this 9th SONA of her, she would attempt to imitate the last SONA of former president Cory Aquino since they are both of the same gender but other speculations are that maybe she will “again” talk about her improvements for the country. Maybe she would talk about how the economy kinda bloomed in her term but that would give rise to questions and oppositions which she has a lot. But that is not really what I wanted to know since most of the Presidents talk about how they uplift our economy and rarely talks about their failures which is quite observable than the latter. Again, what I wanted to know is did she really pushed the HR 1109 or the bill for the CON-ASS and run for candidacy to lengthen her term? This is one of the hottest of all the topics since even before her 9th SONA there are a lot of oppositions raised because of this. They would say that they had enough of the President’s term and they don’t want her to lengthen her stay. I can’t imagine what would be the reaction of those who heard her speech if it would be about this. All I know is that there would be a lot of those people who would go against this. And who would not? For 9 years President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo reigned and showed her supremacy over us but still we haven’t seen much of what she can do. Well, based on the survey the economy prospered but then again they also said there are still a lot of our fellowmen who are known to be in poverty. I know that this would really take a long time to do but I also think that 9 years could have at least lessen the number or rate or percent of those in poverty. As president, helping our country’s economy to uplift is really good but in order to really uplift our country she should have at least deal with the people first. The president might have given a lot of jobs since that is one of her goals but still as a citizen I haven’t seen much of the development or maybe because I’m living right below Luzon and Visayas but still that is not an excuse to not helped those who lived where I am from since basically we are still living in the same country.

I guess I have said a lot. What I am trying to say is that I really hoped that what the president said in the SONA is not about flaunting her unseen developments and talked about where she went wrong in her 9 years of service to the Filipino people. I really hoped that she did not talked about the CON-ASS and her candidacy for the next elections since it would really give rise to a lot of oppositions and that she might as well talked about how the next President could help her in achieving her goals or their goals to help our country and of course those who inhabit it.
